About Cancer
The U.S. National Cancer Institute defines cancer as a term used for diseases in which abnormal cells divide without control and are able to invade other tissues.  More than 100 types of cancer exist, each named for the organ in which the cancer cells begin to invade.  The risk of developing many types of cancer can be lowered by making good lifestyle choices such as not smoking, exercising regularly, and eating a healthy diet. Use the links provided below to further explore the indicators and contributing factors of cancer to better understand the impact of the disease within our community.
