About Commuting

The current system of transportation in America has been designed to meet the needs and ambitions of commuters.  Adequate transportation networks permit access to valuable resources, such as health care providers, employers, and grocery stores.  With mass transit come consequences, which may include injuries, motor vehicle crashes, and air pollution from motor vehicle emissions.  Public transportation and carpooling are ways to reduce the burden of commuting with both financial and environmental benefits. Measuring the trends of mass transit in Marion County as compared to national data will allow us to understand where our community stands in terms of commuting risks.
