About Trails & Parks

Developing parks and trails is an effort policymakers can make to improve the built environment of citizens. Recreational spaces provide an excellent place for physical activity, such as running or walking, which has been shown to improve health and reduce the risk of many diseases such as cardiovascular disease, hypertension, and cancer. Indianapolis has developed a diverse network of trails and parks to increase access to recreational greenways, and therefore improve public health.
