About Diet & Nutrition
Diet and nutrition are important for maintaining health and preventing disease.  Benefits of healthy eating include; decreased risk of chronic diseases such as type 2 diabetes, hypertension, and some cancers, decreased risk of overweight and obesity, and decreased risk of nutritional deficiencies.  With the abundance of accessible nutritional information, there is a lot of confusion and associated with diet and nutrition.  The public health sector needs to work with communities to increase awareness of healthy eating habits and availability of nutritional foods.
